FacadeAesop Paddington is situated within the historic hub of boutique stores at 449 Oxford Street, Sydney. 449 Oxford Street, a long and slender commercial space held together by concrete walls and glass facade is ready for a fresh fit-out.Aesop required a fit-out which was not only inspired by the location's surroundings, but also a design that pushed the boundaries of a retail store and reinforced their brand identity and core values. The final design incorporates a clean facade of large, black steel framed windows, allowing for views into an interior interspersed with a mix of both recycled steel and raw natural materials found throughout Sydney's landscape, including sandstone and concrete. The entryway opens up to reveal a spacious room adorned with linear concrete formwork flowing from front to back along the floor and ceiling, and two contrasting feature walls in bright white and raw, natural sandstone. A straight wall finished in white brick and flowing plaster forms which extrude from the wall create a space for product display. A curvaceous sandstone feature wall follows the store from front to rear with a black steel i-beam support, allowing for a more subtle product placement. Cast concrete forms break up the large space and allow for multi-use bench space to test products and create a point of sale area. A break within the sandstone wall at the rear of the store makes way for the staff back of house and bathroom.
